The artist has handed over the entirety of his £25k honor winnings to the MVT, which functions to preserve the United Kingdom's small music venues.
Fender was presented with the award on mid-October as his third album People Watching was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.
The musician has opted to hand the money over to the MVT, in acknowledgment of the crucial part grassroots venues had in his early career.
"I couldn't be pursuing my current career if it weren't for all the performances I performed around the region, and beyond, when I was beginning," remarked the artist. "These spaces are renowned, but they are facing challenges."
Beginning in 2023, at least 150 of these locations have permanently closed – about 16% of the whole industry in the UK.
In the last year, well-known musicians like the band Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.
Sam Fender also took part, raising more than £100,000 on his recent tour to support thirty-eight local spots across Britain.
The donation supported spaces that were facing possible closure due to challenges stemming from floods, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, court cases and neighbor objections.
Other venues received financial assistance in modernizing infrastructure and sound and lighting systems that helped performers and audiences.
"The idea that funds from concerts in big venues backs the smaller venues, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has stated.
The musician is not the first artist to give his award winnings to worthy causes.
Back when Pulp earned the prize in the mid-90s for their record Different Class, lead singer the singer stated that the group would give their cash to the organization War Child.
During 2002, artist she divided her bounty between several good causes, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.
"I also donated a £1,000 to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed new equipment," she told the media.
In recent years, the band donated their winnings to the community center that supported their group, in addition to other grassroots music organisations.
Additionally winners that year they contributed their winnings to a charity for MS after a acquaintance was identified with the condition.
"Receiving the award was quite enough," said singer the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success affected somebody else's life."
Last week, the MVT revealed it had rescued two local spots in south-east England, by transferring them to local control.
One venue in Southampton and The Croft in the city were purchased under the Own Our Venues program, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
