Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had led some to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.

However the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a third set.

He rescued four initial chances in a close deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
